Where You Saw Us!!!

written Dec 2017...

2017 was our busiest yet!   We performed all across Cambridgeshire, England and indeed the world!

We returned to play for several gigs, aswell as appearing for the first time in places like Burnham Market out in Norfolk, Barhill near Cambridge and the Queen's back yard up at Sandringham House!  *Royal accent is surely in the post, tbc...!!*

We had mixed fortunes in the competition rings, narrowly missing out on band prizes - but our members once again came away with a whole raft of solo medals!

The Band had a truly international year; we returned for the second year to Arnhem in Holland and fielded an 11 strong group as part of a collaboration band playing at events across Asturias in northern Spain including the 17th Gijon Bagpipe Festival.   We finished the year at the Birmingham International Tattoo where we were one of the largest bands present in the Tattoo massed pipes and drums performing over two nights to well over 10000 spectators.

Members of the band performed as individuals far and wide too, appearing across the UK and Europe - the band uniform even making it onto parade in Khabarovsk in the Russian far east as Iain performed with another band there!

We welcomed a raft of learners onto the band instruments, some are already getting through a tune and hopefully will debut in 2018!  Hard work and dedication really paying off for both students and teachers!

Last highlight was the addition to the band of a fantastic set of drums in band red/black colours.  The drummers have been chasing that for a few years and now have no excuse but to put in the work to make sure the drumming quality matches that of the instruments!  no excuses now!!!

Thanks once again to all band members and their families for their support, to the event organisers who invited us along and to everyone who came to see us play.    We finish 2017 all but fully booked for 2018,  bring it on!
