Sept 2015

Playing inGermany was a blast, and since then we've been out in Cambridge, been to support Rod Stewart in aid of prostatecanceruk and all in all wrapping up another busy summer of performances!  Check the gallery pages where we hope to soon have pictures and videos up of some of these events.

Last stop will be Stamford Bandstand at the end of the month, then onto the 'winter' events begining with Remembrance Sunday, then Santa coming to Peterborough, before we finish off mid december at Whittlesea Christmas market.Look out for the appearance as well of a number of new band kilts making an appearance as our newest members can finally be fully kitted out in CCPB uniform :o)

May 2015

Well its been a little while since we added news - it has been a busy winter full of practices, new members and we are geared up for another fun summer of performances in parades and fetes across the region.  First up next Sunday (31st) is the Sawtry Feast parade, see us there late in the afternoon.  Check out our latest engagements list here.

In BIG news for the band - we can also now confirm that we are going to be travelling abroad for the first time to perform in Germany this Summer!  We will be performing at the Loreley Tattoo on the banks of the Rhine between the 30th July and 2nd August.  More details to come, but we can't wait!

Jan 2015

Happy new year to everyone!

What a year 2014 was for us!  We played more performances than ever before, had several new members join, we put out our largest ever band, had more drummers than ever before - and theres a lot more to come!! The band has been going now for 5 years and has utterly transformed from a small group of pipers into what we think is the region's best pipe band.

Details of our early 2015 bookings will be added on the Engagements page soon, and we are working very hard over the winter to get a number of new players set to debut this year on both pipes and drums - Expect the CCPB of 2015 to be bigger and better than ever!

If you want to be part of it, please get in touch, whether you play pipes or drums already, if you fancy learning, if you want to book us for your event or even if you just want to become one of the band groupies (!!) just drop us a message - we would love to hear from you.

...especially if you want to book us for your mediterranean beach festival, we'd agree that for a very reasonable fee...

11 November - Remembrance Sunday and looking forwards to SANTA!!!!!!

Remembrance Sunday was this past Sunday when we played at two different events, with a mini band attending the memorial service in Cottenham, and the full band playing in the afternoon at the parade and dedications in Ramsey.

As every year it is a great honour to be asked to be involved in the Remembrance Sunday events and the band is only too proud to support the Royal British Legion.

Next up for the band is one of the best of the year - SANTA!!!!   Ok so maybe I get too excited about that.... but in anycase - This coming Sunday 16th November We will play at Dobbies Garden Centre, nr Hampton in Peterborough.  As we have for the last few years we will perform outside the garden centre and then lead the parade into the store as the big man himself opens up his grotto.  He's due to arrive at 11am, so expect us to play around then!

31 August - Last of the Summer jobs!

Today we played what looks like our last summer engagement for 2014 at the bandstand in Stamford.  Yet again we enjoyed brilliant weather setting some kind of record for pipe bands who usually get pretty much drenched on every other performance as we managed to stay dry every single performance so far this year!  Maybe the rain is just a Scottish thing...hmmm!

What a busy year it has been, thankyou so much to all the event organisers we've worked with and indeed every member of the public who has come to see us! Its been a great year for the band and hopefully sets us up for many many more to come.

Next up for the band performance wise will be the Rememberance Sunday parade at Ramsey Abbey in November, so between now and then we're going to be getting back into the habit of having band practises!   Starting Sunday 7th September, 4pm at RAF Wittering and then every Sunday thereafter at either Wittering or Wyton.  Please do come along to see us, but do use the contact us page to let us know so that we can tell you which location is on for that week.  Midweek practices seperately for drummers and pipers will be continuing, again, contact us for more details.

29 July - Enjoying the Commonwealth Games and getting set For Cambridge!

On Saturday 2nd August we're going to be playing in Cambridge City Centre, starting at Kings College at 1pm, potentially moving around the city centre as the afternoon progresses. Please come and see us!

Away from performances, everyone will no doubt be enjoying the Commonwealth Games which are currently happening in Glasgow - an event that truly shows what the London Olympics could have been with the addition of bagpipes!!  ;o)

We're just away now to learn a new tune called "here comes a medal ceremony"!

14 July, the band is ready for a wee rest!

Well in the last month or so we have been very busy bees performing far and wide bringing our music to the many hundreds of people who have seen us at the different engagements.  We've recieved a lot of really great feedback which makes it all the more worthwhile and enjoyable for the band members.

This next weekend (19/20th July) we have a well earned week off - even Sunday practise is getting cancelled!! :o)

We just played at the Manea Gala day on the 12th which was a great event, and provided the band with every opportunuty to get sunburnt!  On Sunday 13th, while the band did not play as a full unit at the Corby Highland Gathering, we were represented by both Michael and Abby in the Solo piping comeptition.  This was Abby's first time competing and she did really well coming second in her class.

Next up for CCPB is performing for the Cambridgeshire Police on Friday 25th, and then at the RAF Wittering families day on Saturday 26th.  Our next performance thereafter is on Saturday 2nd August when we will be embarking on Cambridge City Centre - please do come and see us there!

June Update!

16 June -  So far this month we have performed as a full band in Sawtry, Ramsey and Warboys, with still 3 engagements to go!  First up we travel to Sommersham (PE28 3JS) on the 21st to take part in the parade to close their Carnival week, this to be followed the next weekend by a return to Werrington Carnival in Peterborough on the 28th, and a trip to the seaside as we go to Sunny Hunny to perform at the Hunstanton Carnival on Sunday the 29th.

In the engagements so far, we have been delighted to see Abbie, Jon, Mel, Rebecca and Jacob all perform with the band for the first time - hopefully the first of many many more!

Busy times for the band mean we're not having Sunday practises at the moment, but drummers and pipers are having seperate group practise sessions midweek - get in touch for more details!

Summer Engagements - Come see us in Sawry, Sunday 1 June

The band has a busy schedule booked and will be performing across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia throughout the summer.  For the full list - check out the Engagements page.  We are out every weekend throughout June and July, so wherever you are in this area we're bound to be near you sooner or later!

First up though is Sawtry Feast Parade on Sunday 1st June, the band will be performing in the parade at approx 4.30pm.

Also as summer is set to be so busy, we are unlikely to be holding the usual Sunday practises each week - if you do want to come along please see us at a performance or contact us and there we will invite you to one of the our midweek sessions.

Change of practise venue

This Sunday 13th April, the band will be moving practise venue from our usual Wittering home down to Wyton near Huntingdon / St Ives.  If you are interested in coming along please do let us know!  (when we work out the address ourselves, we'll be only too hapy to share it!! :o)

Feb 2014 - Come See in In St Ives, Sunday 23rd February

The band will be taking part in a parade in St Ives at 2pm on the 23rd Feb as the Girl Guides celebrate Thinking Day.  We will be taking part in a parade throught the town centre, starting by Waitrose.  Please come and see the band in our first outdoor event of the year!

Due to this event the regular band practise on Sunday at wittering will not be happening this week.

Fair Fa' Your Honest, Sonsie Face!

Celebrate the life and works of one of the great Scots, Robert Burns this 25th of January.

While several of our pipers are individually piping in haggises around the region, there will be small 'mini band' playing on the evening of the 25th at the White Horse in Tilbrook, and again on the 1st Feb at the Huntingdon Caledonian Societey's Burns Night.

Jan 2014 - Happy New Year!

The band is back in full swing for the new year!  Heres wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous 2014.

Our next full band public performance is currently penciled in for the start of the summer, however many of our members will be playing for Burns Evenings across the region so if you are attendding such an event, we may see you there!

Our engagements calendar has been updated, there will be more added as we get nearer the summer and hopefully we will be able to add some of the English Pipe Band competitions to our diaries too - dates tbc.

Once again we would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone wanting to learn an instrument or find out more about the band - We would love to hear from you so please get in touch using the 'contact us' page.

Whittlesea Performance, 13 December 2013

The Band finished 2013 in style with a large band turning out for the Whittlesea Christmas Festival, despite the cold a large crowd enjoyed our performance and we're only to happy to announce that we will be returning to the same event again next year!   Thanks to everyone in Whittlesea for the great reception the band recieved - its always a pleasure!
