Amur Waves Festival, Khabarovsk, Russia

While the rest of the band was bringing bagpipes to Burghley Game and Country Fair, our lead drummer Iain was near 7000 miles away performing as part of the International Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums in Khabarovsk in the Russian Far east.

This was the second consecutive year Iain was invited, having played bass last year, this year he was on snare along side pipers and drummers from all over the UK and Ireland.   Across an 11 day trip the massed band performed a series of tattoos, concerts, street parades and official functions.  In the large events the band performed along side some incredible musicians from military bands from Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russian bands from StPetersburg to Vladivostok and almost everywhere in between!!  Bagpipes are still very much a novelty in this part of the world, and the band were given a fantastic reception everywhere they went.

OK, so not really a band job but the pictures are well worth sharing!  and maybe in years to come a few more CCPB kilts will be lucky enough to travel with the Massed Celtic Pipes and Drums as they perform all over the world.
