Scotland in Colchester, 12 June 2016
12.6.16- a significant date in the history of CCPB as the band took home it's first ever competition silverware at the Scotland in Colchester event!
Bands from across England gathered at the Lower Castle Park for a wet, muggy, and ultimately awesome day of piping, drumming, highland dancing etc etc. Only our second ever contest as a band, and our first since dabbling at Chatsworth a couple of years ago, saw 11 of the bandsfolk play really well taking 4th place out of 10 bands in the Grade 4 March - in the process winning our first ever shield! (actually joint 3rd, but lost out on a pipng preference!)
In addition to this, we fielded two teams in the quartets piping and were deligheted to have our 'A' team finish 2nd overall in a field of 13 bands - this despite torrential rain accompanying their march from the line to the judges tent!
Lastly, but by no means least, Abbie had another sucessful day in the solo piping winning herself a shield and handfull of medals too!
So all in all, a brilliant day for CCPB and a day that we won't forget in a hurry!
